Business Response to Trish Cranes Review
We strive to help customers as best as we can, although in this instance unfortunately we could not. Trish purchased a vehicle from us with full details prior to her completing her purchase. On collection she requested a reduction in price as the mileage was slightly higher than another vehicle she had previously looked at. It was clear that she had chosen this particular vehicle and she was seeking a discount. It was a very good example of this type of vehicle and as everything had previously been agreed no discount was offered. We advised Trish not to complete unless she was happy with it and she was given ample opportunity to leave without completing the purchase.
Trish went ahead with her purchase and bought a lovely Campervan from us, but immediately began seeking some form of compensation by alleging faults with the vehicle. In every instance Trish refrained from bringing in the vehicle for us to check the validity of faults and repair if necessary. An offer from us to Trish to use the free Scottish Motor Trade Association Conciliation Service to air her grievance/claim was refused and instead Trish sought to pursue her complaint through the Court. We defended the case successfully and, as well as losing her lodging dues for the Court and a further appeal, Trish was required to pay to us a fair amount of compensation for our defence. It has therefore taken us a while to respond to this online Review as the above process has taken almost 2 years. In summary, we feel that we did try to assist Trish and offered help where we could. It is unfortunate that, whilst she is free to complain, she was looking for something that she was clearly not entitled to.
Mr Hail the owner sold me a camper van for 45000 miles on 29 May 2016 and I paid a deposit of £200 for a 2000 Mazda bongo - approx. £16000 including extras.
I followed our agreement up in writing and Mr Hail phoned me to reconfirm the mileage and that they would paint the underneath of the van for an extra £200 etc.
However I arrived to pick up the van on 15 June and Mr Hail said I would now be dealing with his son -Saul Hail . When I was leaving the garage I noticed the mileage to be nearly 57000 miles. Saul said we would speak to his father. I felt Mr Hail got quite nasty to me when I questioned the mileage and said he must have made a mistake. I suggested a discount but that was not for consideration.
I would also suggest getting the van checked out before you purchase. Since purchasing I have had to replace all the brake pads as they were down to the metal. I had an oil leak from the engine and another oil leak which required the vehicle being taken into a specialist in Grange mouth. The warranty for me has not been worth the paper it’s written on as each time we phoned we are told the van was not covered.
I believe if I had been a man I would have been treated with a bit of respect and I would have received some compensation. Please be aware
